Why Choose Us?

Our aim is to prepare students to become qualified, work-ready professionals with the skills and expertise to participate in today’s competitive job market. We work to ensure students realise their full potential and equip them with high level academic and specialist knowledge and a wide range of skills that are valued by employers.

Students aged 16-18 benefit from a vocational qualification, English and maths, and employability activities, such as work experience placements, and visits from employers and industry professionals who come into the College to deliver workshops and share their experiences and advice.

At City of Westminster College we offer excellence, enterprise and employability.

Excellence

We are committed to providing the highest standards of education, teaching and learning. As well as good teaching we also have top quality facilities and we use technology to make learning more interesting. We expect all our students to stay at college for at least 2 years and move onto the next level of further education, higher education or good quality work or Apprenticeships. All our students continue to study English and Maths including improving their GCSE grades if they have not yet achieved grade C.

Enterprise

By developing interpersonal, as well as academic and/or specialist technical skills we are responding to what employers and universities look for most in their candidates:

  • High level academic or specialist technical skills
  • Good communication skills, independent thinking and dedication

Our courses are designed to enhance student’s interpersonal skills, as well as academic and specialist technical skills. We encourage students to take initiative in their studies; to engage in independent research and analyse, evaluate and find solutions to problems. We also ensure they develop their communication skills by engaging them in team building activities and group project work.

Employability

All our courses have excellent links with employers, companies and public services. We deliver enterprise projects, external work placements and a full programme of work related learning. The College has close partnerships with key local employers and industry professionals, who come into the College to share their experiences and advise students on what to do in order to successfully enter the world of work. In some instances employers are invited to assist students in their studies, acting as their mentors.

We have high quality industry standard facilities in our vocational areas including a brand new Creative Industries Centre with art and fashion studios for creative arts, computer design suites, industry standard kitchens, real restaurants, hair and beauty salons salons and construction workshops. Because of these facilities and our work related and enterprise projects, employers say they find students from further education colleges better prepared for work than students from sixth forms.
