CWC students successfully complete Pub Pros course

A mixture of BTEC Travel and Tourism and Business students completed a six session Pub Pros course organised by Fuller’s. The course focused on improving business skills, knowledge of the pub/hospitality industry and connecting students to potential employers.

The Pub Pros course raises the profile of careers in the Pub Industry by informing and inspiring 16 – 18 year olds about the sector and the opportunities it offers. The course covered business basics, employability skills, industry case studies and work experience taster days.

During the six session course, students were introduced to the industry and discussed what a day in the life of a pub general manager might look like. The sessions included various group activities and general information on Fuller’s. The highlight of the course was pitching an idea regarding a pub to one of Fuller’s hotel's manager.

“Students learnt all about the transferrable skills, tricks and challenges behind running a pub or hotel business – not as easy as it may seem. It was however a joy and a privilege to witness the students really boost their skills and confidence levels during the course and listen to their creative ideas throughout.” Said Daniel Kennedy, CWC’s Enterprise and Employability Co-ordinator.
