CWC Student Gets Tuneful for Charity

A student at City of Westminster College’s Maida Vale Campus has featured in a spectacular rendition of a popular Broadway musical song for BBC Children in Need.

Ella Seymour, a student on the Learning for Work Course in the college’s Supported Learning department, took part alongside other young people from across the country to sing You Will Be Found from the musical Dear Evan Hansen.

All the singers featured in the video are drawn from music projects supported by BBC Children in Need with music provided by musicians from the BBC Philharmonic.

Ella’s participation was supported by Pro Corda, a programme which aims to equip young people with teamworking skills using music.

City of Westminster College is proud of Ella for her participation and enthusiasm in taking part in this project and will be sharing the footage, which forms part of the BBC Philharmonic programme, at its virtual assembly and on its website.

The full song is available to view and share here.

Commenting, Ella Seymour said:

“Pro Corda is good. We sing songs from musicals.

“It’s fun.

“I love singing and dancing to the music.”

Stephen Davis, Group Principal of the United Colleges Group, said:

“We’re very proud of Ella for taking part in this brilliant project for such a good cause.

“The song is lovely and it’s the perfect antidote to the troubling times we find ourselves in and I’m sure it’ll make many people smile.

“Lockdown and COVID-19 in general has left a lot of people feeling lost and alone and that’s why the positive message of Ella and her colleagues’ video is so important.”
