Course content

Areas of study include:

·          Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health

·          Applying principles of nutrition to physical activity

·          Programming and delivering personal training with clients

·          Health and safety

·          Business skills

How will I learn?

Combination of both theory and practical work.

How will I be assessed?

Continuous ongoing assessment takes place through the course to develop a portfolio of evidence.

Types of assessment include:

·          Practical

·          Role play

·          Group work

·          Professional discussion

·          Presentation

·          Written report

·          Multiple-choice tests

All our full time further education courses (Entry to Level 3) are free if you are 16-18 years old and meet UK residency requirements. Depending on your circumstances, you may also be eligible for financial support to help with other costs associated with your course such as free school meals and travel.

If you are  enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course and aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

2 – 5 hours per week of independent learning.

Entry Requirements

All GCSE grades obtained.

Minimum achievement of 4 GCSE qualifications at grade C or 4, including English and Maths.

Expected prior knowledge

Regular gym user.

Interested in working towards employment as a gym instructor or personal trainer.

English level

GCSE grade C / 4 or Functional Skills Level 2.

Mathematics level

GCSE grade C / 4 or Functional Skills Level 2.
