United Colleges Group (UCG) recently hosted a group-wide Iftar event during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
Ramadan is a time of spiritual focus and renewal. Muslims fast, pray and gather as a community during the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
The ideology behind the events — organised by the Student Enrichment Team (SET) — was to provide a safe and warm place to allow staff and students to break their fasts.
There are many individuals within the colleges that may not get that experience, so SET decided to host these events and provide that community feeling at UCG.
The first-ever UCG Iftar took place at our Paddington and Wembley Campuses and was very well attended, with staff and students looking forward to more events such as this in the future.
Kamal Hashi, Senior Security Supervisor, said: “I want to express my gratitude for the wonderful Iftar event that was organised.
“It was an incredible opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the breaking of the fast during the holy month of Ramadan.
“I was particularly impressed by the attention to detail and the thoughtful planning that went into making the event a success. From the delicious food to the beautiful decorations, everything was perfect.
“It is heartening to see that our institution values diversity and inclusivity and actively works towards creating an environment where everyone feels welcome.”
