Today, Wednesday 15th October, United Colleges Group (UCG) welcomed Minister for Skills Jacqui Smith to City of Westminster College (CWC) in celebration of National T Levels Week (Oct 13-17).
The Minister visited classes including Science, Health and Design, Surveying and Planning to explore how the college is embedding practical industry experience and bespoke learning opportunities into its T Level delivery.
A number of learners across different T Level courses spoke to Baroness Smith of Malvern about their learning experiences at college as well as their industry placements within the likes of St Mary’s NHS Hospital, Mace and Imperial College London. Senior staff ─ including Bilal Bobat (Interim Vice Principal), Louise Reynolds (T Levels Development Lead), Nicola McLean (Interim Vice Principal) and Amanda Thorneycroft (Chief Financial Officer) ─ also had the opportunity to talk with the Minister about the college’s progress and vision for expanding T Level opportunities across the capital.
The discussions focused on the successful rollout of T Levels at UCG, the positive response from employers and the future pipeline of skilled, work-ready talent being developed to meet the needs of key sectors in the UK.
Stephen Davis, CEO and Group Principal of United Colleges Group, said: “We were delighted to showcase our T Level provision at City of Westminster College to Minister for Skills Jacqui Smith.
