Engineering

Engineering is a creative career with a wide range of roles and disciplines.  It involves the application of mathematical methods and scientific principles to turn ideas and materials into products and systems.

Our full-time Level 3 programme focuses on the specialist areas of electrical/electronic engineering and mechanical engineering with a choice of pathways in year 2. You’ll be taught by teachers who are specialist engineers in electrical/electronic engineering and mechanical engineering, and learn in dedicated engineering and computer labs.

Work experience is important so students in full-time study programme take part in work experience, workplace visits and employability related project work in partnership with engineering and construction businesses. In addition to the vocational and employability opportunities on offer, students are able to develop their English and Maths skills to match the requirements needed by industry and higher education.

Do you know…

We also offer a part-time two-year national diploma course for employed students and apprentices wishing to upskill and progress in their careers.

What’s next?

Upon successful completion of you course, you can progress directly to an apprenticeship or employment as an engineering technician or go into higher education to study for an engineering degree. Future job opportunities may include Aerospace/Avionics Engineer, Automotive Engineer, CAD Technician, Electrical/Electronic Engineer, Engineering Technician, Mechanical Engineer, Motor Sport Engineer, Product Designer, Production Engineer and Signal Engineer and more.
