Level 1 Award in Book-Keeping and Accounts is aimed at people working or looking to work in finance. This short, introductory qualification teaches you all the essentials of bookkeeping and the course can lead directly to the level 2 AAT course.
You do not need to have experience to take this course.

These will be the main areas covered:

• Elementary double entry bookkeeping
• How to record sales in sales day book and ledgers
• How to record purchases in purchase day book and ledgers
• How to prepare cash book and perform bank reconciliation
• How to prepare petty cash book
• How to prepare initial trial balance.

What have students who have taken this course in the past progressed to?

Students that successfully complete their programme of study could progress onto AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.

When will you study?

The course runs once a week on a Monday from 10.30am - 13.30pm. Its run for 15 weeks with an external exam at the end of the course.
