Course content

Traineeships are new, exciting, flexible programmes designed to support young people in developing skills that will enable them to take their first steps into employment. Traineeship combines work experience and pre-employment training to help young people successfully find a job or Apprenticeship.

A Traineeship is right for you if you are:

Unemployed, have little or no work experience but are motivated and want to find a full-time job or apprenticeship, then our new traineeship programme could be for you.

Course Break Down:

2.5 weeks Construction Training including:

  • CSCS card test, CSCS green card
  • Preparation for work experience and employment
  • Employability Skills including CV, job search, applying for a job, interview skills, getting job ready
  • Support with English and Maths
  • Preparation for interviews with employers
  • Site Visits
  • 3.5 weeks work placement on a construction site
  • Guaranteed Interview at the end of the programme

As part of the programme you will undertake mock interviews with employers and be screened for employment opportunities – with a guaranteed interview with an employer if a job role becomes available, or a reference and exit interview to give you guidance - this will help you with your future job applications and interviews

You will receive Support and mentoring during the programme and as part of the after care service and you will have access to our free recruitment services to support you into employment.

On successful completion of the course, you will receive:

  • Certificate in Construction and Employment Skills
  • Health and Safety in the Construction Environment
  • CSCS Green Card
  • Functional Skills
  • Functional skills development are embedded within the course programme

What qualifications or skills do I need to show I have before I can enrol?

You need be aged 18 years or over to be eligible for this course. You will also be required to sit an initial assessment and IAG session to determine whether the course is suitable for you. You need to have a Literacy/English level to at least Entry Level 3 standard – this will be determined in the initial assessment. If you do not meet this level, we may suggest you be referred onto a different course.

You need to be able to provide:

  • Proof of benefits
  • Proof of ID and residency
    • UK Nationals: Passport or Full Birth Certificate + 2 proofs of address (no older than 3 months)
    • EU Nationals: Passport, EU ID Card/Travel Documents or Birth Certificate + 2 proofs of address (no older than 3 months)
    • Non UK/EU Nationals: Passport/ Home Office Documents. 2 proofs of address (no older than 3 months), and proof of residency in the UK/EU for 3 consecutive years
