College to host WorldSkills UK Forensic Science Competition Heat

London’s most talented Forensic Science learners will be battling it out in the WorldSkills UK Competition National Qualifiers held at City of Westminster College, with the aim of securing a place in the finals at The Skills Show in November.

The WorldSkills UK Competition in Forensic Science is run in partnership with Complete Forensics, the Competition Organising Partner.  The WorldSkills UK Competitions involve a series of tests and are designed to enable the UK’s top apprentices and learners to build on their knowledge and showcase their employability skills.  The competitions also enable employers to benchmark their apprenticeship and training programmes, raising standards across the UK.

Competitors who excel in the WorldSkills UK Competition heats are invited to take part in the finals at The Skills Show at the NEC Birmingham from 17 to 19 November 2016.  The Skills Show is the UK’s largest skills and careers event and in previous years, a number of CWC's Forensic Science students have made it through to the National finals.

Holding regional heats enables Complete Forensics to spread the word about the skills required in this exciting industry while maintaining the activity central to developing young people into becoming future scientists. It is through partnerships such as CWC and Complete Forensics that the heats can reach so many young people and this year includes two massive sponsor organisations, Cellmark Forensics and Grants Scientific Instruments.

“WorldSkills UK Competitions perfectly showcase the wide range of vocational careers available to young people across the UK,” said Dr Neil Bentley, Chief Executive of WorldSkills UK. “Holding the National Qualifiers at CWC enables us to make the competition accessible to as many young people as possible in London, helping to show the exciting employment opportunities that an apprenticeship or training programme can lead to.”

“I offer my best wishes to all those taking part in the competition and wish them the very best of luck.”
