Former student Moye Ubor reaches his goal and sets up a social enterprise

Back in 2012, Moye successfully completed a CCTV course at CWC, a year later he set up a social enterprise called Cherry tree Foundation. Since then has worked along with the Jobcentre, Southwark Council, DWP, Westminster Council as well as City of Westminster College to help students find employment.

Why did you choose to study the CCTV course?

I had a number of issues when I was at the Jobcentre looking for work after facing redundancy and found out that CWC offered Security courses. The Jobcentre manager at the time referred me to the College for the 2-week course.

What made you choose City of Westminster College?

City of Westminster College is nearby but is a well-known college in the area and my Dad went there when it was a polytechnic!

What are your career aspirations?

I want to help as many people from areas where I’m from as possible. Being brought up in Westminster we are often overlooked in terms of our opportunities. I want to create an organisation that will help people to create jobs for others.

What advice would you give to our current students?

Take the opportunities you have now, don’t waste your precious time. Focus on your time now, if you do it now you won’t have to sacrifice anything in the future.

We run a wide range of short courses, ranging from half a day up to 15 days, which provide employees with the qualifications and skills needed to improve the way they work and make a positive impact in the organisation. For more information click on the link below.
