CWC Teacher Training students celebrate graduation

On Friday 19th October the College held its annual Teacher Training graduation ceremony. The ceremony recognises the achievements of our Level 5 trainees on both full-time (pre-service) and part-time (in-service) courses.

This is the seventh consecutive year that the ceremony has taken place. Pete Sharrocks (Head of Teaching & Training) explains “The idea originally came about when the department decided to run a full-time PGCE university style course for new teachers, it seemed like a good idea to try and replicate a university style graduation. It was a great success, so we decided to do it every year!”

The event is less formal than typical graduation events, but graduates still get to dress up in gowns and mortar boards, have their names read out and are presented with their certificates by our Campus Principal Jackie Grubb. Jackie gave an inspiring speech to the audience, which included many proud parents and friends of the graduates.  The event is always very well received and we aim to continue with it to celebrate the excellent achievements of our trainees, some of whom are our own College staff.
