Student Longlisted for National Theatre Competition

Two City of Westminster College students have been longlisted for the New Views Competition 2022.

UAL Diploma in Performing Arts Students, Hanaa Jean Delvarr (left) and Kaiaa Shepnekhi-Boston (right)  have had their scripts selected for the event that sees students aged 14-19 work with theatre professionals to assist in their career development.

Kaiaa’s play Absent Voices and Hanaa’s, titled The 18th Dimension, have been chosen from a total of 427 entries.

Facilitated by the National Theatre, New Views will see the winning 117 submissions read by a panel of readers from across the National Theatre who will select nine to be performed live.

City of Westminster College, and the whole United Colleges Group, is proud to congratulate Hanaa and Kaiaa for their success in this tough competition and wishes them every success in the next stages. The group also sends its sincerest thanks to the National Theatre, and all its valued partners, for the work they have done in providing this wonderful opportunity for so many talented young creatives.

Stephen Davis, Group Principal and CEO of the United Colleges Group, said:

“Both Hanaa and Kaiaa are skilled, insightful, and intelligent writers and I’m delighted that they have been given this opportunity.

“I am confident that they will go on to have great careers and will remember this as one of the early highlights.

“I’d like to thank the National Theatre for their continued partnership with our college community and say that we look forward to working with them in the future.”
