English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students at United Colleges Group’s (UCG) Maida Vale, Wembley and Willesden campuses were delighted to get the opportunity to attend a special event set up by the UK Parliament Outreach Program.
The free workshop — organised by Nikki Luke from UK Parliament’s Outreach Service — was an interactive and politically neutral session, where learners spoke about a wide range of topics which were important to them, including education and the economy.
Students also welcomed the chance to discover what a day in the life of a Member of Parliament (MP) truly involves, and then enjoyed taking on the roles as members of the Government and Opposition (which led to much debate!).
However, at the end of the workshop there was one thing everyone who took part agreed on... the workshop was a brilliant snapshot into the workings of Westminster and may well inspire careers in politics.
