Business students from City of Westminster College (CWC) recently took part in a special Employability Masterclass provided by leading UK charity Young Enterprise.
Young Enterprise specialises in Enterprise Education and Financial Education, working directly with young people, teachers, volunteers and influencers to help build a successful and sustainable future for everyone.
The Employability Masterclass gave 26 students from CWC an opportunity to hear from local employers and employees about the skills and qualities that are required to be successful in the workplace.
They learned a number of approaches to job hunting — how to describe their personal strengths and to showcase their skills to employers — in order to build a broader understanding of the routes to employment.
As part of the programme, the CWC students received tips for writing compelling job applications, including CVs and covering letters, before rehearsing interview techniques and rounding off the day by setting career goals and planning their next steps to achieve success.
Young Enterprise programmes and services are aimed at supporting young people of all ages from a diverse range of backgrounds, attending schools, colleges and universities across the UK.
Stephen Davis, Group Principal and CEO of the United Colleges Group, said: “I would like to thank Young Enterprise for giving our students from City of Westminster College the opportunity to take part in an Employability Masterclass.
“The feedback from the students has been fantastic, with everyone agreeing it has opened their eyes on how they can open doors to future employment.”
