IT students showcase their ideas for local regeneration

It was wonderful to see our Level 1 IT students present their ideas for the regeneration of local areas to the Mayor of London’s team, at a special event in The Building Centre near Tottenham Court Road just before Christmas. The presentations were the culmination of a 6-week programme run by Local Village Network, which saw volunteers from Wates visit our college each week and share advice as students developed their plans.

The event in December was attended by the Greater London Authority, who saw this as a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from young people about how they want London to improve. They were very impressed by the insights and thought that had gone into the presentations. Volunteers from Local Village Network, Wates, and City of Westminster College staff Ray Jannat & Misk Sharif Ali were also there to listen and support our students.

We are very grateful to Local Village Network, who led the programme and organised the volunteers and event. A huge thank you also to Faith Patterson for assisting creating this partnership with Local Village Network and overseeing the programme.

Good luck to everyone who enters!
