Higher Development Award (HDA) Level 2 is a personal development programme designed for NHS staff looking to build leadership and management skills, grow confidence, and enhance career prospects.

This course is all about boosting motivation, self-belief, and communication skills, helping you make an even greater impact in your role and on patient care.

  • Managing yourself and providing direction to your team
  • Communicating information and knowledge in the workplace
  • Functional Skills English and/or Maths Level 2 (if required)

Course Details

  • Start Date: 2 September 2025
  • Location: City of Westminster College, Paddington Green Campus (near Edgware Road Tube)
  • Class Size: 10–20 learners
  • Attendance: 6 in-college days (9:00am–5:00pm)
  • Learning Format: Mix of classroom and online study, mostly within work hours
  • Support: Online workbook to guide learning at your own pace
  • Qualification: Level 2 – Highfield Certificate in Team Leading Principles & Functional Skills
  • Portfolio Submission Deadline: 28 November 2025
  • Celebration event: 10 December 2025 

On completion, you’ll gain:

13 credits for the Certificate in Team Leading Principles
1 credit for Introduction to Mental Health, Mental Ill Health, and Wellbeing

Return your completed form to HDA@ucg.ac.uk by 15 August 2025.
You and your manager will be advised of your appropriate level of study and your eligibility for funding prior to finalising your application.
