The Supported Internship is a full time work-based education programme, which is delivered over one academic year, for young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan who are keen to progress into paid employment. Interns are based at Westminster City Hall, and the programme is delivered in partnership with Westminster City Council and Westminster Employment. Internships are funded with EHCP.
Interns spend four days per week in the workplace, completing three different work rotations over the year. One day per week is classroom based learning, including English & Maths.
The majority of placements are held within the Council, with some external employers providing the others. Interns are supported by Job Coaches, a Supported Employment Advisor, and a Workplace Mentor.
