Quality Assurance

The governance over apprenticeships as a whole is being transferred from the Government to a new shadow-group called the Institute for Apprenticeships. It is made up of employer representatives and will be responsible for approving expressions of interest in new Standards, guidance on the development of Standards, approving assessment plans, advising the Government on funding, etc.

Who is in the Institute for Apprenticeships?

An operational plan was released at the end of January alongside the names of the eight board members who have been appointed to run the Institute. You can find details here.

Will the Institute for Apprenticeships be responsible for all evaluations?

No, training will continue to be evaluated by Ofsted with the end-point assessment being evaluated separately. Trailblazers are developing the quality assurance procedures for end-point assessment.
